June 11, Monday - first day in Kyoto
07.09.2024
So naturally we took the train out of town to see the Fushimi Inari Shrine. but first, where we got off the train station there was a stand selling inari (on of my favorite sushi variants)! We bought.

.
The shrine's notable feature is the hundreds of "torii gates" (which demark the entrance to a Bhuddist shrine) which all have the name of businesses that donated the gates enscribed on the legs.

then we walked to a large mountain estate with a nice shrine.

Then off to another shrine, the Kadasha shinseki (I think...)

Another noticeable feature was the red bibs on some of the animal statues (mostly foxes, i think); apparently red is the color to ward off daemons
.

Then a quiet shrine ...I have lost track!

.
On the way back i saw a poster for the art exhibit we would visit in a day or two...

On the way to dinner, passed thru a commercial gallery area with restaurants (that we didn't go to, such as this crab house!).
Finally, walked home down our quiet street to the hotel.
